Oregon PPC Match Info Readme

Oregon Police Pistol Combat matches are pistol competitions styled after NRA PPC matches and held at a private members and guests only range in Sherwood Oregon.  These matches are held monthly and are open to any TCGC member and their guests.  Entry is $5 per match.

These matches are more accuracy oriented than traditional action type pistol matches and based on traditional police qualification courses of fire.  You will need a belt and holster that covers the trigger guard and securely retains the pistol, and 4 speedloader or magazine pouches.  You will need at least four 6 shot speed loaders or magazines that hold 6 or more rounds.  In addition to eye and ear protection you will also need a padded mat to lay and kneel on or knee and elbow pads as we shoot on very coarse gravel.  You will need a stapler to post your targets.  You must be safe and comfortable drawing from a holster and executing reloads keeping the muzzle pointed at the berm at all times.

Pistols:  Any four inch double action revolver or 5.5" semi auto pistol with any sight that is not ported and does not have a compensator that holds at least six rounds and is .32 caliber or larger.  There are no bullet type or velocity restrictions.  Adjustable front sights are not allowed on the 1200 match.  Adjustable front sights and barrel lengths up to 6" are allowed on the 1500 match.

All shooting starts with the pistol holstered and hands at your sides.  The pistol is loaded after the course of fire is described and the load and holster command has been given.  At the completion of the stage the shooter will empty the revolver and holster it, or empty the pistol by removing the magazine, racking the slide 2-3 times and dry firing into the berm before holstering the empty weapon.  Weapons can only be handled once the prep-time command is given or after the load and holster command has been given.  All shooting is two handed, if left  or right hand is mentioned that is the hand that has primary control over the weapon and is operating the trigger.  Any jams or misfeeds must be cleared in the time limit for the given stage.

Target is the black full size B-27 NRA target.

You will need 120 rounds or 150 rounds depending on the match.

There are two types of matches held each month, a 120 round "1200" match and a 150 round "1500" match.
